It's not as good as Vestal or Occultist, for sure, but it's definitely not bad, and is even better if you have Medic's Greaves. The Arbalest's Battlefield Bandage is actually not bad if going for a main healing roll with her. You can certainly play without Abominations, but they're a very cool class and I'd recomend trying it. Their in-battle heals may not seem as good as the Vestal's at first glance, but the primary use of such a skill is to get heroes off of death's door, and they do that just fine (plague doctor also removes DoT which is invaluable in some areas). Both the Arbalest and the Plague Doctor are great camp healers and are more reliable as combatants than the Vestal (and they can be used with the abomination of course).
